Whoever thought of this, bless you!
I am sure all the people reading this post must be able to relate to this issue of 'Auto abuse'! ( a term given by my PEP friends).
In the last few years, unfortunately, the issue of auto-rickshaw drivers harassing their customers has increased. It is almost nightmarish to travel by autos' these days. To the bad luck of Bangalorites, the connectivity of public transport is not so great, no denying to the fact that it is definitely improving. This flaw in the public transport system leaves but no choice for people to travel by auto. Therefore auto-rickshaws are an integral and important part of all those living in Bangalore and similar cities.
I, as a matter of fact, have some really eventful incidents with auto drivers. There are times I have got abused, threatened, 'reminded of being a girl', been called all sorts of things, etc. There was this one time when an old auto man, in between our quarrel, lifted his shirt to show me such horrifying injuries that it still makes me shiver at the thought of it. I have never seen something so brutal and disturbing!
I am glad that someone thought of starting a service like this one. When I saw this pamphlet for the first time, I was amazed and impressed to see someone advertise for an auto service. The colorful paper with such pleasant words did not fail to make me smile. I must admit though that this service is a little expensive when it comes to travelling short distances, as they charge Rs 20 extra for pick up and drop, overall for long journeys, early morning or late night travelers, this service is a boon.
Hoping that more such initiatives come up and help in making commuting within the city less stressful!
